Here are directions to various locations the NJAG uses for its programs and events. Click on the images for detailed maps.
 
 

DIRECTIONS TO MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY

The campus of Montclair State University is located at the corner of Valley Road and Normal Avenue in Upper Montclair.

From Route 46 East:
Take Montclair exit before junction with Route 3. Once on Valley, make a right at the light onto Normal Avenue.

From Route 46 West: Take Valley Road Exit and follow U-Turn signs to get to Valley Road South. Make a right at the light onto Normal Avenue.

From Route 3 West:
Take the exit for Valley Road, after the merge with Route 46. Once on Valley, make a right at the light onto Normal Avenue.

Once on Campus:
For a campus map, stop at the information booth at the entrance to the University.

On Normal Ave., the main entrance in on the right. Follow the driveway to the left. The Red Hawk Parking Deck is on your right, but additional metered parking is available near the Red Hawk Diner: Make a right after the Parking Deck, then take the first right up the hill. Metered parking is available behind the Red Hawk Diner - make the first right after the Diner on your right at the top of the hill. This is known as Lot #17. Parking is $0.50 per half hour - pay at the machine at the edge of the lot (remember to display your recipt on your dashboard before leaving the lot).

From the parking lot behind the Red Hawk Diner, walk towards the Student Center (the white concrete building). Richardson Hall (School of Math & Natural Sciences) is next to Science Hall - look for a dark square brick building with white corners next to a little stone building (Peer Counseling Center). It is not far from Lot #17.

DIRECTIONS TO JENNY JUMP STATE FOREST

The UACNJ Observatory is located in Jenny Jump State Forest, near Hope, NJ. The observatory is open to the public on Saturday nights from April through October from 8:00-10:00 p.m.

From Route 80:
Take Exit 12 (Route 521-Hope). From the off ramp go south on Rt. 521 towards Hope for 1.2 miles. Turn left at the light in Hope (there is only one). Then take the first right turn on Great Meadows-Hope road. Travel 2.4 miles to Far View Road. Turn left on Far View. The observatory entrance is 1.2 miles on the right (turn right just before the Jenny Jump State Forest sign).

From Routes 78-22:
Take Exit 17 for Route 31 North. Travel north 16.6 miles (through Washington, and Oxford). At Route 46 (light at "T" intersection - Butzville), turn right. Go 5.8 miles on Route 46 to Great Meadows. Turn left on Hope Road (Route 611 - Saints Peter and Paul Church on corner). Travel 2.4 miles to Far View Road. Turn right on Far View. The observatory entrance is 1.2 miles on the right (turn right just before the Jenny Jump State Forest sign).

DIRECTIONS TO RIKER HILL ART PARK
The entrance to Riker Hill Art Park is near 276 Beaufort Ave. in Livingston. Click Here for a map.

FROM THE EAST

*Take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 15W or Garden State Parkway to Exit 145
*Take Route 280 West to Exit 4A
*Take Eisenhower Parkway south for about a mile.
*After the top of the hill, make a sharp left onto Beaufort Ave.
*Bear right to continue on Beaufort. A few blocks down make a left at the sign for Riker Hill Art Park.
*Go straight at the stop sign. Keep to the right at the fork in the road.
*Telescopes will be set up in the field on your right at the very top of the hill.

Note: If you pass the left turn for Beaufort Ave., you'll end up at the other end of Beaufort Ave. at the bottom of the hill and some of these directions will be backwards!

FROM THE WEST

*Take Route 80 to Route 280.
*Route 280 East to Exit 4.
*Take Eisenhower Parkway south and follow directions above.

Note: If you're coming up Eisenhower Parkway Northbound, Beaufort Ave. is on the right and the entrance to Riker Hill Park is on your right, but the sign at the park entrance is almost impossible to see from that direction.

DIRECTIONS TO THE IRIS GARDENS

Follow the directions above to Montclair State Univsersity. Instead of turning into the main entrance on Normal Avenue, proceed over the railroad tracks to the traffic light. Go straight through the light and make the first left onto Highland Avenue. Take Highland down a few blocks until you see a park on your left. This is the Presby Memorial Iris Gardens (Mountainside Park). Park on either side of the road (make sure you don't block traffic).
